Frequently Asked Questions
1 What is Soldier'95?
The Combat ‘95 clothing system (commonly referred to as Soldier ’95) is the current pattern of uniform issued to British forces. Soldier ’95 clothing has to satisfy stringent UK military requirements covering infra-red reflection, thermal signature and flame resistance. The system is based upon the layer principle and is designed to provide soldiers and military personnel with exactly the right degree of protection for any operational environment and incorporates leading technological developments from modern extreme sports and expedition wear. Unless otherwise stated, we sell only genuine Soldier ’95 clothing.

4 What does Grade 1 (G1) mean?
Grade 1 products are supplied in used (secondhand) condition. The condition of Grade 1 goods does vary. Some Grade 1 items may be supplied in near brand new condition, whilst other items may appear visibly worn and may have been subject to minor repairs (which will be difficult to notice). Cadet Direct guarantees that all Grade 1 goods are supplied in a serviceable condition (please see our separate Guarantee). If you have any concerns regarding Grade 1 goods please do not hesitate to contact us.
5 What are PLCE products?
Soldiers need to carry ammunition, water, food and protective equipment. They use Personal Load Carrying Equipment (PLCE), a tough, modular system of camouflaged belt, yoke and pouches. The term PLCE is often used to describe a broad range of carrying equipment – however we ensure that only genuine PLCE products which satisfy stringent UK military requirements covering infra-red reflection (IRR), thermal signature and flame resistance, are referred to as ‘PLCE’ in our catalogue. All our PLCE products are manufactured by approved suppliers and are suitable for both professional and cadet use.
